Assistant to Lead Design Engineer

About the Opportunity:

AE Techron is looking for an Assistant to the Lead Design Engineer to be a part of an experienced design team developing interleaved, high-power, wide-bandwidth, switch-mode power conversion products. This position will report to the Lead Electrical Design Engineer and will lead engineering-related projects, both internal and external to the company. Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field from an accredited institution required
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly with respect to written and oral communication
  • Ability to work in a hands-on laboratory environment with common lab equipment (o-scopes, DMMs, network and spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience with CAD tools: circuit and behavioral simulation (SPICE, Simplis, Ansys, Matlab/Simulink) PCB layout guidance
  • Experience performing design verification testing
  • Willing to reside within driving distance of the engineering offices
  • A passion for learning
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 10-years-plus experience with electrical/electronic hardware — power electronics/inverters for industrial or aerospace or military drives, battery electric and hybrid electric vehicle systems
  • Experience supervising other engineering tasks (assembly drawings, PCB layout, software development, validation testing)
  • PCBA and final product testing experience
  • Experience obtaining agency compliance (CE, UL) for new products

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: This is a salary opportunity.

Core Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (schedule can be slightly flexible; will work approximately 8 hours within this timeframe)

Typical Work Week: M-F; a few weekends for trade shows each year; 40 - 45 hours a week on average

Direct Reports: None

Travel: Maybe one trade show per year

COVID Protocol: No special protocol; individuals can wear masks if desired

About the Opportunity:

AE Techron is looking for an Engineering Project Manager, New Products to lead a team of talented technicians in developing leading-edge power-conversion technologies from engineering prototype to finished production. This position will report to the company President and will have both project and people management responsibilities. The Engineering Project Manager, New Products will act as a liaison between manufacturing and engineering and will have input into product design and manufacturing processes with the goal of creating products that are high-quality, manufacturable, and exceed customer expectations.

  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly with respect to written and oral communication
  • 5 years' experience managing people and projects in a technical setting
  • This is a position that will require an onsite presence

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience managing people and projects that involve tasks like assembly drawings, PCB layout, software development, and validation testing
  • 5 years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering with electrical or electronic products
  • Ability to work in a hands-on laboratory environment with common lab equipment (o-scopes, DMMs, network and spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing concepts

Pay/Salary: This is a salary opportunity.

Core Hours:8:00 am – 5:00 pm (schedule can be slightly flexible; will work approximately 8 hours within this timeframe).

Typical Work Week: M-F; 40 - 45 hours a week (average).

Direct Reports: Yes, leading a team of 4 – 5 technicians of various specialties.

Travel: None required; may have the opportunity to attend regional trades shows.
